A roll of aluminium sheets, more than a metre wide, goes on a roller-coaster ride in the workshop of a company that makes aluminium cans.
The first station is the cupping machine. Each time the machine emits a sound, it cuts 15 small aluminum discs from the sheet. These discs are then stamped into small cups.
The two-piece cans we currently produce undergo a total of 19 processes, from uncoiling the raw material and cupping to necking, flanging, and wrapping. From the input of materials to the final output of aluminum beverage cans, including the transfer time of semi-finished products between each process, the entire production cycle takes approximately 90 minutes.
A single aluminum sheet embarks on a rollercoaster journey spanning hundreds of meters, transforming into the aluminum cans required by major international fast-moving consumer goods brands. In this fully automated production facility, more than 3,000 aluminum cans are produced every minute.
In this facility, the workshop management personnel are primarily responsible for overseeing the entire production line process. They are required to possess foundational knowledge in mechanical and automation engineering, expertise in production process control, as well as specialized skills in equipment operation, maintenance, and servicing.
This production line, stretching over a hundred meters, is operated by just 13 workers, boasting an automation rate of over 90%.
